賓語(yǔ)從句whether和if的區(qū)別

賓語(yǔ)從句中WHETHER和IF的區(qū)別
whether和if都可以引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句,表示“是否”,在口語(yǔ)或間接引語(yǔ)中兩者可以互換使用.如：
I wonder if / whether I can get some advice from you.
Ask him whether / if he can come.
但在有些情況下,whether和if的用法有一定區(qū)別.
1. whether引導(dǎo)的從句?？梢耘c連詞or或or not直接連用,而if一般不能.如：
正： Let me know whether you can come or not.
誤： Let me know if you can come or not.
2. 當(dāng)賓語(yǔ)從句提到句首時(shí),只能用whether引導(dǎo),而不能用if.如：
正： Whether it is true or not, I can’t tell.
誤： If it is true or not, I can’t tell.
3. whether可以引導(dǎo)帶to的不定式,if則不能.如：
正： I don’t know whether to accept or refuse.
誤： I don’t know if to accept or refuse.
4. whether及其引導(dǎo)的成分可放于介詞之后,作介詞的賓語(yǔ),但if不能.如：
正： I worry about whether I hurt her feelings.
誤： I worry about if I hurt her feelings.
5. whether可以引導(dǎo)從句,作主語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)或同位語(yǔ),而if不能.如：
正： It was uncertain whether he would come.
誤： It was uncertain if he would come.
正： His first question was whether Tom had arrived yet.
誤： His first question was if Tom had arrived yet.
正： We must consider the question whether we will take these measures.
誤： We must consider the question if we will take these measures.
if和whether在引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句中有什么區(qū)別
1 or not放在whether之后時(shí)，只能用whether不用if。
I don’t know whether or not he will come. 我不知道他是不是回來(lái)。
注：如果or not放在whether所引導(dǎo)的從句句尾，則可以用if來(lái)替換。
I don’t know whether/if he will come or not.我不知道他是不是回來(lái)。
2 在強(qiáng)調(diào)任意選擇時(shí),用whether…or,此時(shí)不用if替換whether。
He asked me whether I wanted to go there by train or by bus.他問(wèn)我是想乘火車還是坐公共汽車去那里。
注：whether和or一起還有“不管”之意,引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句。
Whether he drives or takes the train, he will be here on time.不管開車來(lái)還是乘火車來(lái)，他都會(huì)準(zhǔn)時(shí)到。
3 雖引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句，但為了強(qiáng)調(diào)賓語(yǔ)部分，也可把從句放在句首，此時(shí)只用whether不用if。
Whether he will come I am not sure.他是不是來(lái)我拿不準(zhǔn)。
4 從句作介詞賓語(yǔ)時(shí)只用whether不用if。
It depends on whether it will be fine.那得看是不是晴天。
5 作discuss等動(dòng)詞的賓語(yǔ)時(shí)，用whether不用if。
We discussed whether we should close the shop.我們討論是不是該關(guān)掉商店。
6 句子中有if引導(dǎo)的條件句，如再有表示“是否”的賓語(yǔ)從句，用whether不用if。
He asked me whether I’d move to New York if I got the job.他問(wèn)我如果我得到那份工作是否會(huì)搬家到紐約。
7 容易產(chǎn)生歧義時(shí)用whether不用if來(lái)表示“是否”。
Please let me know if you need help. 如果你需要幫助請(qǐng)告訴我?；颍赫?qǐng)告訴我你是否需要幫助。對(duì)比：Please let me know if you need help.請(qǐng)告訴我你是否需要幫助。
8 如果賓語(yǔ)從句為否定句時(shí)，則只用if不用whether。
I don’t know if it won't rain tomorrow. 我不知道明天是不是會(huì)下雨。
